SECTION FIVE

5. Blocks Installed on your site

Some or all of the blocks listed below will be already installed on your site. This section of the guide seeks to give a brief explanation of the purpose of each. All blocks can be configured through the Blocks link in the Administration menu.

5.1 Main Menu

The Main Menu Block contains links. The links can to be to internal parts of your site or to other sites on the internet. Internal links will take the user to areas controlled by modules within your site.

5.2 Who's Online

The Who's Online block is a third-party block that shows which registered users are currently visiting your site or have been there in the last 10 minutes or so. It also displays the amount of Private Messages you have that are new and total like so: "(12 | 20)." You can click on either number to see your private messages. The block also displays a tag that you can click on to quickly compose and send a private message to other online users.

5.3 Tracker

The Tracker (or pnBloodhound or Where is everyone) block is a third-party block that displays the location of each of the online users (or those that have been online in the last 10 minutes). It may be configured to display the location of guests (non-registered users) as well.

5.4 Admin Messages

The Admin Messages block is usually displayed at the top of the center column of a Postnuke Site. The block displays messages (generally text) that the Admin deems important enough to warrant top billing over the news that usually appears below that. You can configure what appears here through the Admin Messages link in the Administration menu.

5.5 Calendar/Events

As you might expect, the Calendar or Events block displays the calendar and coming events. It can be configured to display a small graphic calendar, today's events and upcoming events. In addition, hovering your mouse pointer over an event can pop up a display of the event's details. Members and the Admin can submit events for inclusion.

5.6 Links

The links block displays as many links as desired. The links can be submitted by users or set by the admin.

5.7 Credits

The credits block displays small graphics showing what technologies were used in the creation of this website. There may also be a link to another page displaying information about all the installed modules. Some of this information is occasionally presented in the footer of the main page.

5.8 Login

This block allows the user to login when they first arrive at the site. After they login, the block disappears until they logout again. When users login, they can check the remember me box. This will mean that, if they don't log out, when they return (on the same computer), they won't have to login again. New users can click the "sign up" link to register and users who have forgotten their password can click the "Log in Problems?" link to retrieve their password.

5.9 Incoming

This block dsiplays the number of submitted events, stories, or other content items that await the administrator's approval. This block is only viewable by an administrator. Clicking on the links in this block will take the admin to the area of the site required in order to approve/deny the content.
